What Is Bhulekh?
With Bhulekh, the Government of India has taken the initiative to digitize the land record.
By building the online land records, the maintenance and access to the land records became
simple and brought more transparency. So, under the Digital India Land Records Initiative, the
government has aimed to keep the digital records of the land, maps, and mutations.
The government has given guidelines for creating the Bhulekh for every state. Total 28 states
have an online repository for the land record which allows to view and download the land records
online through the Bhulekh platform.
Objectives of the Bhulekh In India
The Bhulekh platform for the various states in India is under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
Following are the key objectives of the Bhulekh platforms in India.
● To keep accurate digitized land records

Step Wise Bhulekh Name Change Online Process To Change The
Name Of Property Owner
The land and revenue department of the respective state maintains the land records. The process to change the name of the property in the Bhulekh needs legal and document verifications.
Here is the stepwise process to change the name of the property owner in the Bhulekh-
● The applicant has to make a written application to the Tahsildar office.
● The applicant should then provide all the documents as demanded by the government
officials.
● The officer then duly verifies the and of the property-related document the proofs
submitted by the applicant.
● After the verification, the necessary changes are done in the land record.
● The parties which might get affected are notified regarding the land record change.
● If there is no objection from any party within the first 15 days, then the mutation is
confirmed.
● The property owner’s name then gets changed in the land records.
