A property transaction in Karnataka includes stamp duty and registration fees. When a property is purchased in Karnataka or in Bangalore, the purchaser is required to pay the authorities the required stamp duty.

The stamp duty & registration charges in Karnataka vary from 2 to 5% of the transaction amount, as stated in the sale contract.

Stamp duty prices had been reduced by the government from 5% to 3%. However, this was limited to residences with a value of property around Rs 35 L to Rs 45 L.

In addition, it only applied to new property registrations.
