Airoli Katai Naka Freeway: Project Details
The Airoli-Katai Tunnel Road construction plan has been finalised by the MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority).
- The route is 1.7 KM long runs across Parsik Hill and connects to Airoli towards the Kalyan-Shil area.
- The Kalyan-Shilphata 33.8km route, stretches 1.7 kilometres and goes from Airoli to Katai Naka.
- The overall project of the Airoli elevated corridor is 12.30 Km long. Everglades, valleys, flyovers, and railroad lines are all cut across by it.
The distance connecting Airoli and Shilphata will be significantly shortened by the six-lane upcoming highway.
STUP Consultants worked on the Detail Project Report (DPR) between 2012 and 2014. Since 2019, there have been three phases to constructing the roadway, including enhanced roads and a tunnel.

To get to Shilphata today from Airoli and Mumbai, you must travel all the way over Parsik Hill and via busy neighbourhoods like Mahape or Mumbra.
During times of heavy traffic, the trip could take more than an hour.

Completion Date of Airoli Katai Naka Freeway
According to MMRDA completion date of the Airoli Katai Naka Freeway is expected in 2024.
Airoli Katai Naka Freeway Phases Details
The Airoli Katai Naka Freeway elevated route is planned to construct in three phases.
Phase 1: The road section connecting Thane-Belapur Road and NH-48 close to Mumbra Bypass. Included in this are a 3.5 km stretch of the NH-48 completed in 2022 March as well as a 1.7 km tunnel that passes through Parsik Hill which is expected to be completed by March 2023.
Phase 2: Elevated, Upgraded Road leading to the eastern end of the Airoli Bridge.
Phase 3: Road running parallel to the Diva-Panvel railway line connecting NH-48 and Katai Naka.
Airoli Katai Naka Freeway Current Status
Currently, Phase 2 of the Airoli Elevated roadway construction is in progress.
J Kumar Infraprojects is developing this phase of the project which is a contract of Rs 275.90 crore that was granted in October 2018.
