This project is owned and managed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Mumbai Coastal Road Progress
The following is the progress of the Mumbai Coastal Road project.
- July 2021
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) acquired 90 percent of the land required for the Mumbai Coastal Road project.
This helped in the extension of the road 100m within the Arabian sea.
In the same year, 500m of the coastal road was completely dug using a boring machine.
- September 2021
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation completed the tunnel boring for 1km of the total length.
The Mumbai Coastal Road project reached the 40% completion status.
- December 2021
BMC completed the tunnel boring for 2km of the total project length.
- January 2022
BMC fully completed the tunnel boring of the Mumbai Coastal Road project.
- July 2022
58 percent of the project work got completed.
- November 2022
The project achieved 65% work completion status.

- March 2024
The Phase 1 of the Mumbai Coastal Road from Princess Street Flyover to Worli was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde.
- January 2025
The remaining part of Mumbai Coastal Road Phase 1 was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, till Bandra Worli Sea Link.
Travelling on the Mumbai Coastal Road is toll free as of now.
