For the first time, the Middle (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) flat residents of the MHADA (Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority), which are renowned for offering open space in projects, playgrounds, and parks, will have access to a swimming pool, gymnasium, clubhouse, and yoga centre.
According to Mhada officials, the lottery would be conducted in 2025 and the first project of this kind is now being built at Goregaon.
After numerous years of legal battles, Mhada was able to reclaim 18 acres of property that border Prem Nagar’s New Link Road on one hand and is near the S V Road on the other. For the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) & Low-Income Groups in this great location, Mhada has built 2,683 flats across 21 towers, each 23 stories tall. In addition, a 35-story tower with 105 high-income apartments and 227 middle-income apartments is being built.
Mhada will conduct a draw for 2,506 EWS & LIG units in March of this year. Mhada has set aside about 177 apartments for its staff to live in. Along with the MIG & HIG apartments in Powai, Vikhroli, and Antop Hill, a lottery will be placed for these apartments in March. The EWS flats (323 sq ft approx.) would be priced at about Rs 35 lakh, as well as the LIG flats (482 sq ft approx.) will be offered at around Rs 45 lakh, according to Mhada officials, although the flat pricing has not yet been finalised.
“By establishing a correct drainage system, we have increased the tile quality and ensured there are no problems of leaks. As a fire prevention strategy, we are providing electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels on roofs, and sprinklers in each apartment, according to K. K. Katwate, deputy chief engineer (West), Mumbai Board.
Plots A and B have been created out of the 18-acre layout. While Plot B is near S V Road and is just a five-minute walk from the Goregaon railway station, Plot A is on New Link Road and is within walking distance of the recently inaugurated Metro Line 2A (Pahadi Goregaon Metro station). A 35-story tower featuring a swimming pool, three-story podium parking, and other facilities are being built on Plot B for HIG and MIG apartments.
